Upon the request of the Secretariat General of the Planning Council,
an Assessment Mission from the International Monetary Fund (IMF)
will be hosted during the period 29 April 3 May 2007, to asses the
progress in developing financial, monetary, economic and social
statistics of Qatar.

During February and March 2005 a multi-sector mission visited Qatar,
developed an action plan to improve Statistics in Qatar, and
prepared Qatars Metadata, which led to participation of Qatar in
General Data Dissemination System (GDDS) in December 2005. The
competent authorities reviewed the Metadata once more in March 2007.
The
assessment mission will be composed of Ms. Colleen Cardillo, senior
economist at IMF and Ms. Norma Marotta, senior research officer at
IMF.
The mission will visit the Ministry of Finance, Qatar Central Bank
and the Statistics Department of the Planning Council, to be
acquainted with the progress achieved in implementing the
improvement plan proposed by the 2005 multi-sector mission. The
mission will also develop the National Summary Data Page (NSDP),
which will pave the road for participation of Qatar in the Special
Data Dissemination Standards (SDDS).
