QSA President to inaugurate sectoral statistical meeting on October 12

 
   

H.E. Sheikh Hamad bin Jabor bin Jassim Al Thani, acting President of Qatar Statistics Authority (QSA), will inaugurate a high level meeting on mainstreaming sectoral statistical systems in the implementation of the NSDS on October 12 at the Four Seasons Hotel.

 
   

The two-day meeting will bring together participants from data producers and government institutions as well as representatives from the public, private and mixed sectors, GCC statistical organizations, United Nations agencies and Paris 21, etc,.


The meeting is seen as part of QSA efforts to implement the second phase of the National Strategy for the Development of Statistics (NSDS).


It will focus on the fourth NSDS strategic goal related to producer-producer coordination and supplier/respondent cooperation and seek to harmonize and standardize statistical activities and to generate a coherent, integrated set of statistics in Qatar.


The objective of the meeting is to learn about the best practices to incorporate sectoral statistics into the national statistical system in order to produce quality and timely data in accordance with internationally recognized definitions and classifications.


It is expected that the meeting will come out with an institutional mechanism agreed upon to ensure better coordination between QSA and other institutions such as Ministry of Finance and Economy, Supreme Council of Health, Supreme Education Council, and ictQatar.
