The Qatar
Statistics Authority released the nineteenth issue of “the annual
bulletin of Transport and Communication” at the State of Qatar. The
bulletin contains detailed data about this activity, which includes
land transport, water transportation, marine transport, shore
transit, and air transportation, support transport activities,
travel agencies activities, post activities, and telecommunications
during 2008. |

The bulletin showed that total number of establishments in transport
and communication amounted to (947) establishments, among which
(599) employ less than (10) employees, i.e. about (63%) of total
establishments, while the number of establishments employing (10) or
more employees was (348) establishments.
Total number of employees in establishment employing less than (10)
employees amounted to (1639) persons and they received annual
salaries of about (73) million Qatari Riyals (QR), while
establishments employing (10) employees and more employed (54353)
persons and received annual salaries of about (2911) million (QR).
Number of Qatari working in this activity was (2712) persons while
the number of non-Qatari was (53280) persons.
Gross value added (Gross Domestic Product) in transport and
communication amounted to about (21200) million (QR), while net
value added (after eliminating depreciation) amounted to (19323)
million (QR.).
Average annual wage of employees in this activity was (53516 QR),
and gross value added per worker was (378621QR).
Percentage of intermediate goods to production (e.g. raw material,
packing, fuels, lubricants, electricity, water, stationary… etc.) is
(22.6%), while percentage of services (e.g. maintenance,
transportation, loading, unloading, rents of residential and
non-residential buildings, rent of equipment machinery and
transportation equipment… etc.) to production is (9.7%).
