Consumer Price Index Declined during July 2010

Qatar Statistics Authority released the Consumer price Index (CPI) for July 2010. The CPI declined about (0.5%) from June 2010, while the CPI declined (2.9 %) from June 2009.

This decline could be attributed to the continuing decline in rents in July 2010 compared to July 2009 in about (15%). The CPI for the rent decline between July and June 2010 was about (1.6%).
Food and beverages group CPI witnessed an increase about (0.2%) in July 2010 when compared with June 2010, and (2%) when compared with July 2009.
Note: The QSA has shifted the base year from 2006 to 2007 on the recommendation of GCC to standardize the base year to be 2007 for consumer price index calculation in GCC countries.
