Qatar Statistics Authority released the bi-annual imports statistics for 2010

 
   

Qatar Statistics Authority released the bi-annual imports statistics for 2010. Total value of imports during the first half of 2010 amounted to about 37 billion Qatari Riyals, with a decline of 20.2% when compared to the same period of previous year. 

 
   


Passenger cars were the first commodity value wise in imports, followed by parts and spare parts for aircrafts. Electrical cables retreated from its first place in 2009, representing about 4.4% of total imports value, to the third place in 2010, representing only 2.4% of total imports.

The attached table shows the top ten imported commodities during the first half of 2010.

United States of America comes in the first place among exporting countries to Qatar during 2009 and 2010, representing about 11.0% of total imports in both years.

China comes second, with 7.8% and 8.9% of total imports in 2009 and 2010 respectively.

The top ten exporting countries to Qatar (as shown in the attached table) preserved its relative importance during the first half of 2009 and 2010, except South Korea, where it retreated to the eleventh place and replaced by India.
