  Multi-purpose Sample Survey
   

 

   

The Secretariat General of the Planning Council with the participation of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs commenced in December 2005 the preparatory works of the Multi-purpose Survey, which includes several sample surveys, namely:

Household Expenditure and Income Survey

2-

Labor Force Survey

3-

Persons with Special Needs Survey

4-

Indebtedness Survey

 
   


The Multi-purpose Survey will fulfill the need of the Planning Council, the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, planners, researchers, decision makers and other users for timely data about households cost of living, development of labor force characteristics and develop database for households to follow-up socio-economic developments resulting from development plans and programs in Qatar. 
 

 
   

The project, which will extend for the 2005/2006 to 2007/2008 fiscal years, aims to:

 
   

1-

Define the relative importance of goods and services of households expenditure, which will assist in estimating the index numbers to measure cost of living and annual inflation rates.

2-

Conducting studies that help prediction of demand on goods and services needed by households.

3-

Assisting the administrative authorities in Qatar to define the minimum wage through households consumption.

4-

Measurement of domestic income by source.

5-

Identification of households savings and Indebtedness.

6-

 Recognition of limited income households, in order to develop assistance policies and increase its resources.

7-

Preparation of studies about poverty indicators and income distribution.

8-

Estimation of actual size of labor force and its characteristics, in order to develop training and rehabilitation plans and Qatarization policies.

9-

Developing intact population policies through following up Qatari and expatriate working force and their contribution in economic activity.

10-

Recognition of factors affecting labor market and linking education output with labor market requirements.

11-

 Harmonizing with GCC countries in conducting household expenditure and income Surveys at the same period, in order to facilitate comparisons and achieving integration among GCC countries.

12-

 Construction of database for persons with special needs, includes demographic, health and household characteristics and surrounding socio-economic circumstances.
