General Answers

bullet What is Statistics Authority ?

The Statistics Authority (SA) is the national statistics bureau and the official source of statistical data and information in the State of Qatar. The SA was created by an Emiri Decision in June 2007 as an independent agency reporting directly to HH the Heir Apparent. The SA replaces the former Planning Council’s Statistics Department, and is separate from the General Secretariat for Developmental Planning which also originated from the Planning Council.

SA is responsible for the production of official demographic, social, micro- and macro-economic, environmental, and other statistics for the State. As such, SA plays an important role in Qatar’s national development, by providing the statistical information needed for evidence-based policymaking. SA also coordinates the integration and harmonization of statistics produced by other government entities, and coordinates with international and regional organizations on statistical aspects.
