This Chapter contains data on the number of students, schools and classes in the different public and private educational institutions; specialized schools; literacy centers; night schools and students on local and abroad scholarships.
It shows that the number of students in all public and private schools amounted to 197,255 in the academic year 2010-2011 the percentage of students in private schools 54% to 46% for public schools.
Females formed 48.8% of total students enrolled in public and private educational institutions. Administrative and teaching stuff totaled 25,325, of which females represented 77.9%.
At the level of public and private colleges, the number of students enrolled in public and private colleges made up 15,352. The percentage of male students enrolled in public colleges was 63.8% of total students. Females comprised 64.2% of total students enrolled in public and private colleges, while administrative and teaching stuff totaled 2,630, of which females percentage was 53.8%.

The most significant indicators by educational levels:

Primary and pre-primary level:
Pre-primary and primary students enrolled in public and private education totaled 124,501 in the academic year 2010-2011. Primary students amounted to 76.3%, up 6.6% over the past schooling year. Students in primary schools averaged 466, and on average there were 11 students for every teacher.

Middle and high school level:
Total number of middle and high school students in public and private education made up 72,754, up 5.3% over the previous schooling year. Students in middle and high school education averaged 298. The student teacher ratio averaged 10 students to one teacher.
Total students enrolled in public and private colleges formed 15,352 in the academic year 2010-2011, up 9.2% over the previous schooling year. There were 59.7% Qatari college students. The student teacher ratio averaged 9.3% students to one teacher. Students graduated from public and private colleges represented 2100.

Night schools and literacy centers:
The number of learners in adult literacy centers comprised 4635, up 6.5% over the previous schooling year. The percentage of Qatari represented 93.5% of total learners in adult literacy centers in the academic year 2010-2011.

Students on scholarships:
The number of Qatari students on local and abroad college scholarships amounted to 669 in the academic year 2010-2011, of which local scholarships made up 71.4% of total scholarships.
