QSA Organizes a Roundtable On Measuring and Monitoring the Community Participation in Development Process
 

 
   

    

HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jaber bin Jassim Al Thani, QSA President, inaugurated works of Measuring and Monitoring the Community Participation in Development Process Roundtable the day before yesterday, in which a number of experts, consultants, and professors from Qatar Foundation, Qatar University, the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, UNESCO and other concerned national organizations.

 
   


This roundtable comes in line with QSA efforts to meet the needs of statistical data users. It aims to benefit from the expertise of those professors, experts and consultants for developing the methods of measuring and monitoring the community participation in development process, as a prelude to provide the relevant data. This will, without doubt, contribute to the formulation of a national strategy for activating community participation, so as to achieve the national development goals.

The discussions throughout the day focused on many issues dealing mainly with determining the concept of the community participation in the development process, identifying areas of community participation, the impact of community participation on the process of development , institutional building of the State and identifying methodologies to measure community participation in different fields.

The role of universities and higher education in community development, physical activity and its role in community health with its social and economic impact, interaction of society with environment and energy, community use of the means of electronic social communication and its importance to knowledge, society and scientific research and innovation and other issues of community participation were the main themes discussed during the round table.

It should be noted that the QSA has consistently been collecting, analyzing and disseminating statistical data in accordance with international standards, agreed at the United Nations level and other international organizations, including the meetings of the Statistical Commission of the United Nations.

Nonetheless, the current national and international development process, with mainly Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Development Strategies 2011-2016 National and host of the 2022 World Cup are requiring the mobilization of all efforts so as to further increase community participation and to achieve the development goals successfully, which should be fruitful to the community.
